The Águas Livres Aqueduct is a remarkable example of 18th-century engineering, forming the 59-kilometre supply network of the city together with other, secondary distribution aqueducts. Its most imposing section, which overlooks the Campolide valley, is made up of 35 arches, including the largest stone arch in the world, with
a height of 65 metres and a width of 32 metres.
This walk (4000 steps) was carefully put together by Miguel Judice, author of The 500 Hidden Secrets of Lisbon. It is the perfect addition to this guide and will take you to hidden spots that most tourists never find.
